Green Smoothie Recipe

Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Almond mylk
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla alcohol-free
  • 1.5 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 Tsp almond butter
  • 2 stalks of kale
  • 1 handful of fresh spinach
  • 2 bananas frozen
  • 2 cups of mangos frozen
  • 2 fresh banana

Instructions

  • Preparation: Start by washing the spinach leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt or grit. Peel the mango and banana, and cut them into manageable chunks. If your almond butter is refrigerated, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften for easier blending.
  • Layering: In your blender, start with the softer, more liquid ingredients to help the blending process. Pour in a base of water or your choice of milk (about 1 cup should do) to get things moving smoothly. Then add the spinach leaves on top of the liquid.
  • Adding Fruits: Next, add the mango and banana pieces. These fruits not only add sweetness and flavor but also a creamy texture to your smoothie.
  • Almond Butter: Add a spoonful of almond butter for a rich, nutty flavor and a boost of protein and healthy fats. This will make your smoothie more satisfying and filling.
  • Blending: Secure the lid on your blender and start blending at a low speed, gradually increasing to the highest speed. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform in texture, without any leafy chunks or fruit pieces. This might take about 30 seconds to a minute, depending on the power of your blender.
  • Taste and Adjust: Give your smoothie a quick taste. If it's not sweet enough for your liking, you can add a little honey, agave syrup, or another sweetener of your choice. If the smoothie is too thick, add more liquid until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Serve: Pour your vibrant green smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately while it's fresh and full of nutrients!

Why is it a Green Power Smoothie?

  • Green smoothies owe their vibrant color to chlorophyll, a natural pigment found in leafy greens like spinach
  • Chlorophyll is known for its health benefits, including enhancing energy production and improving oxygen transport in the body
  • When you blend these greens, you’re also breaking down their cell walls
  • Making it easier for your body to absorb these nutrients
  • So, each sip of a green smoothie is like a direct infusion of energy
  • Making this smoothie more than just a tasty treat—it’s a powerhouse in a glass!

Green Smoothie Ingredient Swap

If you omit the almond butter just to have a smoothie with fruit, add a little more ice to make the smoothie creamier.
