How to work-from-home stress-free?
Work-from-home has become the norm for many of us, but it’s not always easy to stay focused and motivated when there are distractions at every turn.
And with the lines between work and personal life blurred, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and stressed.
Good news, there are simple strategies you can implement to make your work-from-home days more productive and less stressful.
In this post, I’ll share some practical tips and tricks to help you create a stress-free work-from-home day and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
In addition, I had a special guest on my podcast, Julie Marxen, a financial planner and mom of two toddlers who works from home. Check out the video of my interview with Julie!
How to add self care to work-from-home?
1. Self-care while working-from-home
Self-care is essential in today’s world where work demands and personal life can collide, leaving one feeling stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed.
Julie Marxsen, the guest on the Happy Healthy Hustle Podcast, emphasizes the significance of taking care of oneself. She notes that her busy work and home life can easily throw her off balance, but she has a superpower that keeps her in check – being extremely organized. Julie writes everything down and plans her day well in advance to carve out time for herself.
2. Organize your work-from-home day
Julie’s superpower of being organized has helped her keep her day in check. She notes that planning ahead helps her stay on track and prioritize tasks. As a mom of two young children and a full-time workplace financial consultant, Julie’s schedule is hectic.
But she ensures that she integrates me-time into her day to focus on her well-being. One of her favorite me-time activities is running, which provides her with confidence, mental clarity, and energy to handle her busy day.
Can you be productive while working in your pajamas?
- Getting dressed in work clothes may help mentally transition into a work mindset
- The clothes support feeling more professional
- This can lead to increased productivity
- Find work clothes that are comfortable to focus better on work without distractions
3. Creating exercise breaks
Running is an excellent exercise that does not require any fancy equipment, making it a cost-effective way of staying healthy. Julie has been running for decades and notes that it is her guiding light.
She likes to run early in the morning, at around 5:30 am, before her girls are awake or her husband is away. Running is a release for her, allowing her to think more clearly, boost her confidence, and have more energy throughout the day.
4. Building bonds while working-from-home
Julie also shares that she and her husband have a unique bonding routine called “Us Time.” They aim to have five to ten minutes of “Us Time” in the early morning before the girls wake up. It is a great bonding time that builds trust and ensures they connect with each other, especially since they do not have much time to talk when the girls are around.

The more routine & organization you can add to your work-from-home day, the better!
